Honored at the FOCIS 2024 meeting, their research explores reprogramming T cells to target and eliminate cells contributing to lupus, potentially offering a revolutionary approach to managing the disease. Dr. Radic's research, supported by LRA funding, demonstrated significant efficacy in mouse models by targeting CD19, resulting in reduced disease symptoms and prolonged effects post-treatment. Dr. Schett advanced this research into clinical trials, reporting promising outcomes in patients with refractory lupus, including reduced disease activity and the ability to discontinue immunosuppressive drugs.
