One Third Of Global Enterprises Have Hired An Employee They've Never Met In Person Due To Skills Shortage
Global CIOs are facing significant challenges when it comes to hiring the high-value knowledge workers needed to drive the global expansion ambitions of large enterprises, according to a study by Expereo. Approximately one-third of global CIOs have had to hire individuals they've never met in person due to recruitment difficulties. The research surveyed more than 650 CIOs in global enterprises across Europe, the US, and APAC, revealing that retaining skills and resources (35%) is one of the top three obstacles to achieving global growth, alongside issues like security concerns (35%) and complicated physical and geopolitical infrastructure (33%). Finding the right blend of business and technology skills is also a major recruiting challenge for 40% of CIOs. Additionally, the study found that a hybrid/remote work policy has enabled 43% of global CIOs to tap into a more extensive talent pool and expand their teams across different countries and markets. Nearly half (48%) of CIOs believe flexible working is crucial for recruiting and retaining skilled employees, as it allows access to a global pool of talent. Nevertheless, some CIOs expect an increase in the number of office workdays due to concerns about remote working productivity (32%) and home connectivity issues (31%).
